Our 10-stage process
of water purification

Our water is put through a 10 Stage purification process as follows:

  1. Water Softener: Used as a pre-treatment, removes the hardness minerals (calcium & magnesium) from the water. This also protects the R/O from fouling.
  2. Automatic Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) Filter: This filter employs granular activated carbon as its filtering medium. This filter is used to remove chlorine, organic compounds, pesticides and other chemical contaminants commonly found in many of today’s water supplies. It also protects the R/O membrane from fouling.
  3. 5 Micron Sediment filter: This removes any individual particle bigger than 5 microns. A micron is equal to one millionth of a meter, or about a tenth of the size of a droplet of mist or fog. It is particulate smaller than the naked eye can see. To give you another idea for reference, one single strand of hair is approximately 300 microns in particle size.
  4. Reverse Osmosis (R/O) System: As the name implies, Reverse Osmosis is a reversal of the natural phenomenon of osmosis. The application of hydraulic pressure greater than the osmotic pressure in water (containing dissolved solids) causes the water molecules to flow through the membrane away from the dissolved substances. The Reverse Osmosis System removes over 95% of all mineral and chemical constituents from the feed water, producing a high quality drinking water. This is the most important step in our purification process.
  5. Storage tank: This tank holds up to 500 gallons of purified water for use. The water in the tank is maintained in a sterile FDA approved container. The entire contents of the tank are re-circulated many times a day to ensure the freshness of our water. This is the half way point of our purification process the next 5 steps are all used only at point of use meaning when a container gets filled up.
  6. Activated Carbon Filter: Is basically the same as step 2 but just smaller. It is used to ensure water freshness and pureness.
  7. Ultra Violet (UV) water purifier: The UV water purifier provides disinfection of the water. It destroys any Micro-Organisms which may have passed through the filtering process. It is capable of operating at flow rates of up to 20 gallons per minute.
  8. 1 Micron Filter; basically the same as step 3 just 5X smaller. This is to ensure purity and freshness of our water.
  9. O3 Generator: The O3 Generator provides secondary disinfection of the water. O3 is simply another form of oxygen and is used in most bottled water plants for final disinfection of the water prior to bottling. A residual is left in the water for a short period of time. This not only helps disinfect the water, but helps to disinfect the container in which the water is placed (does not mean the container doesn’t have to be cleaned). Within several hours, the O3 will revert back to oxygen (O2) causing no taste or odor problems such as those caused by chlorine.
  10. Dispensing Spouts (located both inside the store and outside at our 24-hour refilling station) made of all approved FDA materials and is cleaned and disinfected daily.
